about

Another that I had most of the lyrics and the music for the chorus. Rustin came up with music for the verses. This is one of those instances where, I'm not sure that the song itself is the best I've ever written, but I LOVED the recording!

lyrics

To Get Back To You
©2003 Derek A. Shacklett/Rustin Smith
(verse1)
I would swim any ocean
I would climb up any tree
I would crawl across any desert
I would dive in any sea
Just to get back to you...

(verse2)
I would hike over any mountain
I would tunnel way down deep
I would drive over crumbled highways
I would cross over any street
Just to get back to you...

(chorus)
I don’t know what I was thinking
I don’t know what I thought I’d do
‘Cause I would give up everything
Just to get back to you...

(verse3)
I would stifle my grand ambition
I would lay aside my dreams
I would fall on promises laced with grace
I would admit how much I need

(instrumental)

(chorus)
I don’t know what I was thinking
I don’t know what I thought I’d do
‘Cause I would give up everything
Just to get back to you...

(chorus)
I don’t know what I was thinking
I don’t know what I thought I’d do
‘Cause I would give up everything
Just to get back to you...

(But only 2 beautiful girls can call me that, and you’re not either of them!) It's thoughtful-pop. ... more
